ATHLETE ENTRANCE, CHECK-IN AND SEATING Teams need to enter the Irwin Belk Track center gate using their bib numbers. Seating is general admission. Teams will be allowed on the football practice field (warm-up area behind the stadium) with a bib number/credential. Event check-in will be at the clerk’s area north end of the track. AWARDS No NCAA individual awards or team trophies
will be presented during or after the regional meet. There will be a
recognition ceremony after each event final to present the top five
individuals and the top three relay teams who have achieved the automatic
qualification for the national championships. At the conclusion of the
regional championships, the two top teams in the team scoring shall be
recognized on the award stand. COACHES' MEETING A mandatory coaches meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25th in the Alumni Event Center, which is located on Benbow Road.
COACHING The NCAA rule on coaching shall be followed; the host institution shall designate 2 rows for coaching areas. Specific areas will be discussed at the Coaches' Meeting. DRUG TESTING Student-athletes who compete in these championships may be subjected to drug tests in accordance with Bylaws 18.4.1.5 and 31.2.3 and may be determined to be ineligible as a result thereof. Only student-athletes who have consented in writing to such testing initially are eligible for these championships; thereafter, student-athletes who are tested shall remain eligible only if they test negative.
ELECTRONIC TIMING PROCEDURES Fully electronic time and photos will be official. Time
will be recorded officially to the 1/1000 of a second when needed. Two
fully-automatic electronic timing devices should be used at the finish line
and be independent of each other. In the event of protest (pertaining to the
reading of the picture), the meet referee and the two official evaluators
will make the final decision. There shall be no appeal of this decision to
the jury of appeals. Times will be recorded to the 1,000th second if
necessary to determine advancement placings. FACILITY DESCRIPTION Mondo Surface: 48" lanes; double field event areas in long and triple jump high jump, shot put, discus, hammer, javelin and pole vault; maximum length of spikes –1/4 pyramids or 1/4 pressure spike. Preferred lanes 4-5-6-3-7-8-2-1.
HOSPITALITY A coaches and VIP hospitality area will be available for both days of the Regional Championship. The hospitality area will be located on the VIP Tent. HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS North Carolina A&T University has reserved hotel rooms for the officials. Each participating university will be responsible for reserving its own hotel rooms. MERCHANDISE/HEAT SHEETS/PROGRAMS MEDIA / CREDENTIALS Working media and SIDs will have access to a media work area, which will include electrical outlets, phones and a fax machine. All requests for media credentials must be submitted in writing to Brian Holloway, Sports Information, 1601 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27411. Requests can be made via facsimile at 336-334-7181. Credentials will be issued per NCAA policies and must be worn at all times. Misuse will result in revocation of credentials and removal from the media area. Credentials are non-transferable. OFFICIALS The meet director will have the following key officials at the Alumni Event Center on Thursday at 4:30: referee for field and running events; starters; jury of appeals to be used by the referee to aid in decisions and to act on appeals. A meeting for all officials will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26th and Saturday, May 27th in the Fitness and Wellness Center (Multi-Purpose Room) which is located on the campus stadium.
PARKING PACKET PICK-UP Coaches may pick-up packets at the Coaches' meeting in the Alumni Event Center on Thursday, May 25th between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. PROOF OF PERFORMANCE FORMS Coaches DO NOT need to submit POP Forms for marks established at the regional championship meets. The NCAA will update any improved marks from regional events. PRACTICE The track will be available for practice on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 from, noon to 7 p.m. and Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Practice for the Hammer and Javelin will be available on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, noon to 2 p.m. Practice for the Discus will be available on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Practice for the High Jump will be available on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Practice for the Long-Triple Jumps will be available on
Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Open track for all running events, Pole vault, and Shot-Put will be available on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. PROTESTS Protests relating to matters that develop during the meet should be made as soon as possible and within 30 minutes of the posting and/or announcing of the event results. Protests must be made by a coach and submitted to the protest table located near the north end of the track. The protest then will be submitted to the referee, who will render a decision. If the referee’s decision is not satisfied there will be a $50.00 charge to appeal of the jury. RESULTS Results will be posted on both side of the track stadium grandstand and will be on www.ncataggies.com BREAKING TIES At each regional site ties for places 5-12 in all events will be broken for advancement purposes only using the prescribed tie-breaking procedures outlined in the 2006 Men's and Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Rules book. The results from breaking advancement ties will not impact the regional team scoring. It is necessary to have placement established from a minimum of 1-12 to ensure that five student-athletes from each region are represented at the national championships after the national declarations are completed.

UNIFORMS All student-athletes shall conform to NCAA regulations governing the appearance of commercial identification on uniforms, equipment and apparel. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in contract from the NCAA's Enforcement Group. TRAINING ROOM/MEDICAL INFORMATION The main athletic training facility is found in the Bryan Fitness Center. The phone number is (336) 256-0533. An area for visiting trainers and visiting teams will be set-up on the south east side of the track near the finish line and warm-up area. A University certified athletic trainer will be on-site at all times. Team physicians and support staff will be on-site throughout the meet. Available equipment in the warm-up area includes: water, ice, hydrocollator, ultrasound and E-stim. All requests for trainer credentials must be submitted in writing to Brian Holloway, Sports Information, 1601 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC 27411. Requests can be made via facsimile at 336-334-7181. Emergency equipment including a spine board, sports chair, crutches, and vacuum splints will be readily available. An ambulance will be on site throughout the competition. There will be a Physician in the sports medicine tent each afternoon during the meet. During this time, a physician will be on site throughout the meet for illnesses, injuries, etc., however, arrangements must be made with a North Carolina A&T State University certified athletic trainer in advance. WARM-UP AREA A warm-up area is available on the football practice field located adjacent to the track. WEATHER ISSUES If inclement weather approaches the facility, athletes, and coaches should follow the instructions of the meet officials who will direct them to safety. If inclement weather or extenuating circumstances may delay the start of competition, the NCAA representatives on site, in consultation with the meet referees and the tournament manager, shall contact Mark Bockelman, NCAA championship liaison, prior to informing the teams of any changes. Once competition has begun, the meet referees and committee liaison shall determine if weather shall cause a delay. If competition is suspended, the meet referees, committee liaison and tournament manager will decide if and when competition can continue. If conditions dictate that the competition cannot be completed that day, the committee liaison and tournament manager shall contact Mr. Bockelman. Only after contacting Mr. Bockelman may competition be suspended until the following day. WEIGH-IN Athletes must weigh-in all throwing implements at the south side of the Track and Field Stadium. Implement weigh-in will take place for all participants on Thursday, May 25, from, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 26, from, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 27, from, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Athletes may check-in implements at preceding days or times as long as the weigh-in station is open. All implements will be impounded and will be available 1 hour before event at field event site.
