WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT WHEELER BROWN

“Wheeler always showed leadership qualities as a football player. He is someone who is going to bring a lot to the position because he is knowledgeable, wise and understands what it takes to be successful at North Carolina A&T. He loves people and he knows how Aggies function. It is always a great honor when you see one of the young men you coached come and give something back to the university that gave him so much. I truly think he is the man for the job.

“This is an exciting time for me and North Carolina A&T athletics as a whole. Wheeler was younger than me, but I remember being so amazed that he had such pride in his university. He played with passion and he shocked me a couple of times because he would hit you in practice. But that is the kind of passion he brought to the table and that is the kind of passion he has for the department. He is going to be a great asset to athletics and the university. Wheeler knows that if your athletics department is successful it reflects well on the entire university. It is a tremendous feeling to see one of your teammates make it to the top.”

“He was a winner. He was my personal protector. I ran the football but I had a great offensive line who didn’t want to see me get hit. He was the anchor at the left tackle. He was a great football player and the thing about Wheeler was he played his best against the best. When he knew he was going up against a guy who was supposed to be all-world, he took it on as a challenge. So I know he is ready for this challenge. He is going to work had to build the department back to where it was when he was here.

“He was a great teammate and a great player for North Carolina A&T. He had all the attributes of a great leader and he was one of those people who put it out on the line every day. I know Wheels is going to put it all on the line as North Carolina A&T’s athletics director. He is someone who is straightforward and direct and he will let you know where you stand.

I know he is going to increase the morale in the department because he is going to bring out the best in people. Plus, Wheeler wants to win. He is going to put things in place to make sure A&T is a winner.”
