Wade goes 3-for-5

CHARLOTTE, April 17, 2007 – Joe Wade went 3-for-5 on Tuesday, but the Aggies left eight men on base as they dropped a 13-3 decision to Charlotte in baseball action at Hayes Stadium.

 It was the 49ers second win over the Aggies this season, the first win coming at War Memorial Stadium on March 20.

Charlie Gamble went 0-for-3 with one RBI, which ended his impressive 19-game hitting streak. the Aggies also had their five-game winning streak ended. Jeremy Jones and C.J. Beatty had two hits apiece. Wade smacked a one-out single to right in the first, followed by a Jones single.

Both runners advanced thanks to a passed ball. It set up Gamble’s sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Wade from third. Joe McIntyre, the reigning MEAC Player of the Week, singled home Jones to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead.

The lead would not last long, however. The 49ers scored four runs in their half of the first and five runs in the second to pull away from the Aggies. John Primus (2-4) took the loss while B.J. Hagen was the winner in relief.

The Aggies return to action on Wednesday when they face Appalachian State at 3 p.m., in Boone, N.C.
