Jeremy Jones has a college education. He has the honor of being drafted by a Major League Baseball team. He also has numerous collegiate accolades.

Despite all of those possessions, he continues to come to plate with an Aggies jersey on and produce. The fifth-year senior went 4-for-6 with five RBIs three runs scored a home run to lead the North Carolina A&T to a 13-12 win over Longwood in extra innings Sunday at Lancers Stadium.

Jones got help from Nick Rogers and Joe McIntyre. Rogers went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and McIntyre was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored as the Aggies recorded 18 hits on the day. The win gave the Aggies their fourth straight win as they improved to 18-23 after sweeping the Lancers on the road.

“I thought we showed a willingness to preserve this weekend,’’ said head coach Keith Shumate. “To come up here and win two games in extra innings against a good team like this is something we can hopefully build on.”

The Aggies took a 12-10 lead in ninth as Rogers and Nelson Santos hit back-to-back two-out singles. Rogers scored on an errant throw by Lancers catcher Topher Ellis after both runners stole their respective bases.

The Lancers answered back in the ninth. Brant Jones earned an infield single off of reliever Chris Eggers. Eggers retired the next two Lancers to move the Aggies to within one out of sweeping the Lancers. But the Aggies would have to wait. After Jones advanced to second on a wild pitch, Casey Havers doubled him home to move the Lancers to within one. Jake Yocum tied the game with a RBI single to center field to score Havers to force the second extra innings game of the three-game series.

With two outs in the 10th, James Howard started the Aggies rally with an infield single. He stole second to set up Jones’ heroics. Jones singled up the middle to score Howard to give the Aggies a one-run lead.

Frink entered the game to hold down the Lancers. Frink walked Scott Kimble with one out in the inning. Paul Heider II singled to put runners on first and second. But Frink got the next two Lancers to fly out to earn his team-leading fourth save of the game.

N.C. A&T held on despite letting the Lancers rally from 6-0 and 9-5 leads. Jones gave the Aggies a 9-5 lead on a three-run homer down the right field line. It was the seventh home run of the season and the 23rd homer of his career.

“There are not too many things Jeremy has not seen in his college career,’’ said Shumate. “He is having an outstanding season and his leadership has been so vital to our younger players.”

The Aggies are back in action 4 p.m., Tuesday against Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C.
