Rogers hits two-run homer
Box Score The win keeps the Aggies hot with their fifth straight win and their seventh win in the last eight games. They improved to 19-23 on the season as they have scored 57 runs and compiled 87 hits in their last eight games, and in one of those games they were one-hit by Campbell. On Tuesday, C.J. Beatty, Jeremy Jones and Lester Rivenbark joined McIntyre with two hits apiece. James Howard led the way with three hits, but not many batters in the conference have been as hot as McIntyre. From the beginning of the month until now, he has improved his batting average by 57 points. But this is nothing new for McIntyre. He has never gone into the month of April with a batting average better than .261. But he is still a career .342 hitter. McIntyre was a big part of a four-run fifth that helped the Aggies pull away from the Terriers. With runners on first and third, Jones opened the fifth-inning scoring by reaching on a fielder’s choice that forced out Howard at second, but allowed George Hines to score for a 3-1 Aggies lead. Beatty kept things going by singling up the middle to advance Jones to third. Beatty stole second to move into scoring position, which benefited the Aggies as the throw to throw him out went into center field to allow Jones to score. McIntyre then stepped up and doubled to score Beatty for a 5-1 Aggies lead. Nelson Santos closed out the scoring by singling to right to score McIntyre for a 6-1 advantage. On the mound, Chris Eggers remained solid for the Aggies. He went seven innings, struck out five and allowed only three hits to improve to 4-5 on the season. It was third win in his last five appearances. One of those appearances included Eggers being awarded a save. Haumacher (0-1) took the loss. The Aggies are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Asheville to face UNC Asheville at 3 p.m. The Aggies return home on Saturday to face conference foe Delaware State in a 1 p.m., doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium.
