Macklin is batting .341 on the season GREENSBORO, March 31, 2009 – Xavier Macklin hasn’t wasted any time adjusting to life as a Division I player. The Rocky Mount, N.C., has jumped in with both feet as he earned his first career accolade on Tuesday by being named the MEAC Rookie of the Week in baseball. Macklin helped the Aggies go 2-2 last week by going 6-for-15 with three RBIs, a home run and six runs scored. He also hit three doubles and a triple along with making 11 putouts without an error. Macklin was instrumental in helping the Aggies defeat arch-rival N.C. Central. He had a double, a home run and three RBIs in the Aggies 7-2 victory. For the season, Macklin is batting .341 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. He has also stolen 10 bases and been caught only once. He had a six-game hitting streak snapped on Sunday.
