Jones goes 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI GREENSBORO, N.C., - March 5, 2005 – N.C. A&T scored seven runs before making its first out, and Ian DiGiorgio pitched 6 2/3 strong innings as the Aggies cruised to a 14-5 victory over Albany at War Memorial Stadium. The Aggies (4-10) went to work in the top of the first against Great Danes starter Nick Murphy, who did not retire any of the six batters he faced. RBI singles from Jeremy Jones and Chris Williams gave the Aggies a 2-0 lead. Joe McIntyre doubled the lead with a two-run single, then later scored on a double by Raul Santiago. John Mazzola came in relief for Murphy and gave up a bases loaded walk to Eugene Burnett for a 6-0 lead. Nic Mayo, the 10th batter of the inning, drove home the seventh run with a sacrifice fly. Charlie Gamble continued the attack on Albany pitching in the second inning by blasting a two-run home run, his first of the season. Williams added a two-run double in the third to push the lead to 11-0. Jones added an RBI single in the fifth inning for a 12-0 Aggie advantage. The run support was all DiGiorgio needed, as he allowed six hits, while recording a pair of strikeouts to even his record at 2-2. Jones finished 4-for-5 at the plate for the Aggies, scoring three runs and driving in two. Williams and Gamble had two hits and two runs scored apiece. Jones is 7-for-9 in the first two games of the series with five runs scored and four RBI. Justin Meagher went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer for Albany (1-1). Derek DeGrazio and Steve Wyland went 2-for-4, while Tony Vallone scored twice. The two teams will meet on Sunday at noon in War Memorial Stadium.
