N.C. A&T Highlights
Has been
a solid fixture at shortstop for the Aggies over the past two
seasons…One of the best shortstops in the conference in ranging to his
right and snagging balls in the hole to throw out runners heading to
first base…Has fielded more than 300 groundballs for the Aggies, yet
still holds a career .915 fielding percentage…Also has been valuable
player on the base pads…Has more stolen bases than any other MEAC player
over the past two seasons with 50…Has also excelled as the Aggies
lead-off man over the past two seasons with a .385 on-base
percentage…Had an outstanding freshman season for the Aggies…After being
switched around the batting order early in the season, settled in at the
lead-off spot and prospered with an on-base percentage of .400, good
enough for second on the team behind sluggers Jeremy Jones and Charlie
Gamble.
2006 Season
Played
in and started all 58 of the Aggies games…Was a staple at shortstop for
the Aggies with 178 assists on the season, which ranked him second in
the MEAC…Batted .252 on the season with 33 RBI and one home run…Served
as the Aggies lead-off and was efficient in that role with 40 walks and
a .370 on-base percentage…Produced once he was on base…Between April 8
and May 7, reached base safely in 18 straight games…In that span, he
walked four times and stole three bases against Wofford, had three hits
against Appalachian State and three hits against Bethune-Cookman… Scored
11 runs over the 18-game span…Reached base safely in the Aggies first
nine games of the season…Scored eight runs over that span…Led the
conference in stolen bases (30) and stolen base attempts (38)…Ranked
eighth in the league in runs scored with 43…Was fifth in the league in
at-bats with 218 and second in the league walks…Had 15 multiple hit
games, including three games in which he recorded three hits…Went
2-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI against Savannah State on
March 13…Went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI against
Cincinnati on Feb. 17… Went 1-for-3 with three stolen
bases against Norfolk State on March 26…Had three stolen bases against
the University of
Alabama Birmingham
on March 17.
2005 Season
Played
in 50 of the Aggies 54 games with 50 starts…Batted .304 with one home
run, 25 RBI and 20 stolen bases…Ranked fourth in the MEAC in stolen
bases…Ranked 15th in the league in batting…Ranked sixth in
the MEAC in on-base percentage…Earned a team-high 28 base on balls as
the Aggies lead-off man…Had multiple-hit games 13 times…Was a combined
7-for-15 with two RBI and four runs scored in the Aggies three games in
the MEAC Tournament last season…Went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the Aggies
NCAA Regional game against Clemson on June 3…In his last 10 games of the
season, was 15-for-45 (.333) with five RBI and nine runs scored…Went
4-for-7 with three RBI and scored a run in a win over Savannah State on
April 9…Blasted a grand slam over the right-center field wall in War
Memorial Stadium in a loss to Ball State on March 9, as he was one of
four Aggies to hit a grand slam in 2005…Went 3-for-6 with three runs
scored in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on April 3.
