AGGIES FINISH SECOND IN INVITATIONAL

Brungard wins MOP honor

GREENSBORO, January 28, 2007 The North Carolina A&T and Fayetteville State bowled down to the wire before the Broncos finally outlasted the Aggies to finish first at the Aggie Invitational at Gate City Lanes over a three-day event.

The Aggies came in second under an alternate point system that saw them finish one point behind the Broncos. Jamie Brungard led the way for the Aggies with a total score of 970, which earned her Most Outstanding Bowling honors. Danielle Hanna and Erica Johnson also had a good weekend for the Aggies. Hanna bowled an 845, while Johnson finished with a score of 840.

The Aggies led going into the final match of the day on Sunday before the Broncos led by Jessica Donnelly earned enough points to overcome N.C. A&T. In Baker play, the Aggies were 5-1 with their only loss coming to the Broncos. The Aggies would avenge that loss in Baker play for the tournament split.

It was the final match in Greensboro for seniors Shea Stark, Brungard and Hanna, three significant bowlers for head coach Courtney Stith. The Aggies return to action next weekend in Jonesboro, Ark., in the Mid-Winter Classic.
