Aggies made important strides in the standings with great weekend

Carolina A&T senior bowler Jamie Brungard was magnificent and the Aggies
as a team were at their best to help N.C. A&T have an impressive showing
at the MEAC Bowling Roundup at the High Point Bowling Center over the
weekend.
The Aggies finished the weekend 5-1 in Baker play and 4-2 during team play to have a 9-3 weekend and finish second behind Bethune-Cookman. “My team had an intense desire to win, said Head Coach Courtney Stith. They played with confidence and executed very well.” Brungard had an average of 203 during team play on Friday. Brungard followed that performance with the highest score of anyone on the day with 244 and knocked a total of 1,259 pints for an average of 209.8 on Saturday. Brungard ended the weekend with a roundup-high average of 204.2. The Aggies concluded the Roundup with a Baker win over Howard in three games and a loss to Maryland-Eastern Shore in four. In Baker games on Saturday, North Carolina A&T won all four of its games against its MEAC northern foes. The Lady Aggies topped Coppin State (582-424), Morgan State (736-636), Delaware State (538-482) and Hampton in a best three out of five game format. The Aggies are now 23-10 overall, 18-10 in the MEAC, 11-6 in Baker matches and 12-4 in team play. With their strong showing, the Aggies could find themselves in the next National Tenpin Coaches Association Poll. The MEAC Bowling Round-up is a prelude to the MEAC Bowling Championship, The matches, based on a win-loss record, not pin fall, will count toward the seeding for the MEAC Bowling Championship. The Championship will take place on Friday, March 23 through Sunday March 25 in Virginia Beach , Virginia at the Lynnhaven AMF Lanes. |
