On May 4, 2005 DeLores “Dee” Todd made a significant mark in the history of North Carolina A&T Athletics by being named the first female athletics director at the University. Todd's background includes many first and many groundbreaking achievements.

 Todd was the first female to serve as an Assistant Commissioner in the 50-year history of the Atlantic Coast Conference.  Todd supervised, directed and coordinated officiating programs for baseball, as well as plans, organizes and directs men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field and baseball championship events.  She also served as liaison between those sports committees and coordinates special projects with institutional staff members.  She served on the NCAA Championship/Competition Cabinet and Administration Subcommittees and chaired the Certified Contests Subcommittee.

 Todd chaired the USOC’s Minorities in Sports Task Force and co-founder of Project GOLD.   She is the past president and past member of the Board of Directors of NACWAA, (the National Association of College Women Athletic Administrators).  From 1995 - 99, she chaired the subcommittee of the NCAA Division I Track and Field Committee responsible for the complete coordination of the Division I Outdoor Track Meet.  In August of 1999, Todd served as an assistant coach for World Track and Field Championships in Seville, Spain.  Todd also served as Tournament Manager for NCAA East Regionals for Women in 1999.

 From her diversified career in interscholastic and intercollegiate athletics, Todd brings a wealth of experience to the athletic arena.  She was named the 1987 ACC Coach of the Year for Women’s Outdoor Track after guiding the Lady Jackets to a fourth place finish in the outdoor championships after only the school’s second year of competition in that sport.

 Todd joined the Georgia Tech staff in 1985, after serving as Head Coach for four years at Northwestern University where she earned 1983 Cross Country Big Ten Coach of the Year honors.  While at Georgia Tech, Todd was a three-time Georgia State Coach of the Year, winning the Georgia State Intercollegiate Championships in 1985, 1986 and 1987.

 A native of Camden, New Jersey, Todd was a successful high school coach in Illinois for nine years before going to Northwestern.  At Thornridge High School in Dolton, Illinois and at Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois, she led her outdoor track teams and cross country teams to eleven conference championships.  She also spent one year at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland.

 Todd graduated with honors from Winston-Salem State University in 1972 with a degree in Health and Physical Education, and received her Masters Degree in Human Relations and Psychotherapy from Governor’s State University in Park Forest, Illinois in 1981.  In March 2001, Dee Todd was inducted into the Central Collegiate Athletic Association (“CIAA”) Hall of Fame.  In September 2002, Todd was inducted into the Winston Salem State University Hall of Fame.

 For the past 14 years, Dee Todd has served on various committees in the community among which are Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; Chair, Greensboro Parks and Recreation Commission; North Carolina Juvenile Justice Commissioner; Board of Directors, Goodwill Industries; Mental Health Board of Directors; YMCA Board of Directors; Center for Creative Leadership Board of Directors; External Vice-President, Women’s Professional Forum and  Board of Governors, Summit House of North Carolina.  She also works on various NCAA committees.

 Todd has a rare blend of knowledge, experience and love of sports and its periphery that is uncommon and uncompromising.
