CAMPBELL NAMED CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

GREENSBORO, October 2, 2006 --  A young North Carolina A&T football team took a step toward progress on Monday when redshirt freshman quarterback Wayne Campbell was honored as the MEAC Rookie of the Week for games  played on September 30.

 Against Norfolk State, Campbell who has played as a reserve in all four games this season, entered in relief of starting quarterback Herbert Miller, and completed 20-of-31 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. In the process, Campbell, a Port Charlotte, Fla., native, set the new school freshman records for completions (20) and yardage (219).

 Campbell is the first Aggie to be selected rookie of the week since Chaz Truesdale in 2004. He has completed 31-of-57 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns in four games.
