Coach Fobbs on
Delaware State's game-opening kickoff return for a touchdown
"It was big. We came into the ball game we were looking for good things
to happen. But then we kick the ball in the wrong direction and they run
it back and they take advantage of it. It was a big momentum boost for
them. It was devastating for us."
Coach Fobbs on
how the Aggies performed
"Playing the way we played last week, we really felt like we had some
momentum coming into this ball game. So we shouldn’t have played the way
we played. But it happened."
Coach Fobbs on
Michael Ferguson's performance
"Mike’s been playing hurt, but that’s no excuse. Mike will be the first
to tell you that. I just think that should be mentioned because the way
he’s played previously in the position he plays."
Coach Fobbs on
Delaware State's defense
"We knew coming into the game their success has been based on the kind
of defense they play. They stopped some of things we wanted to do and of
course they took the interception back for the score. So that’s just
been their M.O., all season long."
Coach Fobbs on
the early portion of the game
"Early in the game the field position was really flipped over in their
favor. We had a couple of shanks on a couple of punts that didn’t allow
us to turn the field position in our favor. We didn’t come out the way
we should have and Delaware State is too good for us not to come out
ready to execute."
Coach Fobbs on
why he went with QB Shelton Morgan most of the game
"We wanted to get Morgan into the flow of the game and into the game
plan. We wanted to establish a little more continuity out there with his
teammates. I’m trying to settle into one guy to run the offense."
Coach Fobbs on
Delaware State stopping the run
"I’m not surprised at their play at the line of scrimmage. They kind of
got away from that in their last ball game, so we felt like we could
have some success. But they kind of got back into that mode of playing
stingy defense at the line."
