Coach Lee Fobbs on
his thoughts about the game
“We
were able to get up early and stayed ahead, but we weren’t able to
maintain it. I think the key was the fumble we recovered on the kickoff,
but came away with no points. We had to have points in that situation
and we came away with nothing.”
Coach Fobbs on how
the kids will respond to the heartbreaking loss
“All of them are tough. Our kids go out there and work hard every day in
practice. They are hurt right now. I know I’ve got a tough bunch of kids
who are going to bounce back and be ready to go next week at homecoming.
Even though we are winless we pride ourselves on getting back to
practice and working hard each and every game. One day we’re going to
have it all come together and we’re going to win.”
Coach Fobbs on his
thoughts when the Aggies took a 27-15 lead
“You
never know in this game. With the ways the ball bounces, you can’t say
you’ve got it. We never felt that way, we kept playing. We just didn’t
rely on running the football; we kept throwing it because we felt like
we needed more points to win the ball game. We kept telling the kids to
keep playing. The ball game wasn’t over. We wanted to keep playing
within our game plan.”
Coach Fobbs on the
blocked field goal
“I
thought the turning point in the game is when we get the fumble and come
away with no points. I think that really began the slide. It was just a
golden opportunity that we didn’t cash in on.”
Coach Fobbs on the
positive things he can take from the game
“I can
take a thousand things from the game and say it was positive for us. But
there is no such thing as a good loss. At this point in time a win is
what we are striving to get, not good losses.”
Coach Fobbs on the
opening second half kickoff
“I
thought the second half kickoff was big as well. We really wanted to
force a punt from them to sustain our momentum. But they come out and
put it on the positive 40 or 45 for them. They kept the ball and scored,
so it was really uplifting for them.”
Coach Fobbs on the
Aggies close losses this season
“We’ve
played 40 minutes. We’ve played 45 minutes, 55 minutes, but we have yet
to play 60 minutes. That’s what you have to do if you want to win. It’s
not to point the finger at anybody, but we as a group have to play 60
minutes of solid football. When we have the lead, we have to protect the
football. We had the lead today, but we didn’t protect it.”
Aggies receiver
Curtis Walls on his thoughts when the Aggies took a 27-15 lead
“Our
confidence was up from the start of the game. We didn’t just start
thinking we could win when we took the lead in the fourth quarter. When
we were up in the fourth quarter, I just thought we were going to go
ahead and finish them off and take (a win) home.”
Walls on what the players’ mindset is like now that streak is
continuing
“At no point did either me or my teammates thought we were going
to come in this game and lose. From the time we took the field until the
last couple of minutes, we believed we could win. We think we can win
and break this streak, we just haven’t put a whole ball game together
yet.”
Walls on the Bison’s
comeback
“It’s all about finishing. We now know what it takes to go out there and
play a competitive game. Now we have to do what it takes to win the
game. It’s about making sure we do everything needed from start to
finish, not just three-fourths of the game.”
