Full Game Notes vs. S.C. State

Coach Lee's Monday Press Conference

In The "Burg"
The Aggies don’t play the Bulldogs much at Dawson Stadium, but when they do it’s usually a close game that unfortunately favors the Bulldogs. Over the last 13 years, the series has spent much of its time in Charlotte with a few games in Atlanta and one of the games in Charleston, S.C. The last time the two teams played at Dawson Stadium was in 2001 where the Bulldogs defeated the Aggies 15-14. The previous meeting at Dawson was a 28-27 win by the Bulldogs. In 1993, the Aggies and the Bulldogs were involved in an offensive showdown that saw the Bulldogs win 58-52. The last time the Aggies won at Dawson Stadium was in 1988 when they beat the Bulldogs 17-6. The Aggies are 4-12-1 all-time at S.C. State.

Recaping the FAMU game
...The combination of Dontavious Payne and Mike Mayhew have combined for 819 yards this season…Payne’s touchdown gave the duo a combined nine touchdowns on the season, making the most prolific running back duo in the conference…Mayhew needs just one touchdown to tie the single-season rookie record for touchdowns at N.C. A&T.

... The Aggies went strong toward their youth movement against the Rattlers…The Aggies started two freshmen at linebacker (Tevin Williams and Brandon Hover), a freshman at strong safety (Terrence Webb), a freshman at wide receiver (Buster Cooper), a freshman at running back (Payne), a freshman at tight end (James Thomas) and a freshman at quarterback (Lewis Kindle). In total, the Aggies started seven freshmen on Saturday.

... Lewis Kindle’s fell short of some rookie records. Kindle was 16-for-30 for 206 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown. He fell four completions short of the rookie record for completions in a game. He also fell short on attempts with Wayne Campbell throwing the ball 37 times in 2006. Kindle did account for three Aggie touchdowns which is a freshman record.

An Aggies Win Means

…The Aggies would have registered their first win over S.C. State since 2001…The Aggies last win over the Bulldogs was a 66-14 blowout…A lot has happened since that win, including four different Aggie head coaches and 15 different starting quarterbacks since the Aggies last win over the Bulldogs.

…The Aggies would put together their first winning season in six years…The Aggies have already won more games this season than they’ve won the previous three years combined…A win today would give the Aggies just their second winning season in eight seasons.

…The Aggies would have their first win in Orangeburg, S.C., in 20 years…The last Aggies win in Orangeburg came in 1988, which was a 17-6 victory.
