Bess File: He has the reputation of being a tough, aggressive football player who plays hard until the whistle blows…Teammates describe him as a player you love to have on your team, but someone you would despise if he were an opponent…His aggressive play does yield penalties, but it also benefits the Aggies
running game…He has been the leader of the Aggies offensive line for the last two seasons, but could run into some competition this fall as sophomore Enoch Cohen is pushing him for the starting job at center…He will come into the fall the No. 2 center on the depth chart…Even if he doesn’t get the starting nod, he can still play a significant role because he can also line up at the guard positions…He had to abandoned his customary No. 75 because the Aggies retired the number in honor of NFL Hall of Fame and Aggie football legend Elvin Bethea after the 2007 season…Bess is excellent at spotting blitzes at the line of scrimmage…He often earns positive grades for his pass blocking and his calls at the line of scrimmage…Is one of the hardest workers in the weight room, and one the strongest players on the team…Benches in more than 440 pounds and can squat an impressive 600 pounds…He also power cleans around 290 pounds….Has played in 30 games for the Aggies with 22 starts…Made the transition from the defensive line to the offensive line to start the 2006 season…Earned playing time along the defensive line in short-yardage situations for N.C. A&T as a redshirt freshman…JUNIOR (2007): Played in 11 games with 11 starts…He saw action in 616 snaps, recording 333 positive grades and 22 knockdown blocks…Played 65 snaps against Prairie View A&M on Sept. 6 and recorded 39 positive grades…Played 52 snaps against Howard on Oct. 20 and four knockdown blocks and 24 positive grades…Played 72 snaps against N.C. Central on Sept. 22 where he had two knockdown blocks and graded out high on 37 snaps. SOPHOMORE (2006): Played in and started all 11 games for the Aggies last season…Had his best grade of the season against Bethune-Cookman as he helped Michael Ferguson rush more than 100 yards on Oct. 26…Also had a nice game against Winston-Salem State on Sept. 1. REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2005): Played in eight games for the Aggies without a start…Recorded his first career sack on Sept. 15 when he sacked Princeton Shepard in the second quarter of a game played at Aggie Stadium…Made a key solo tackle against Florida A&M on Nov. 5…Played a key role for the Aggies in short yardage situations… CARVER HIGH: Chose N.C.A&T over such Division I schools as N.C.
