Colbert File: If 2007 is any indication, Colbert’s 2008 season could yield postseason accolades…Coaches are impressed with his dedication and effort…A relentless weightlifter, Colbert’s development over his career at N.C. A&T is often shown as the model way to change an athletes’ body into an impressive physique…Earned the team's weight room award last season...Over his career it has been difficult to place him in a position because his size says he should be a defensive back, but his ability to make plays around the line of scrimmage speaks volumes about his ability to play linebacker…Head coach Lee Fobbs stresses that he should be on the field somewhere on every play…After a banner 2007 season, Colbert will come into fall camp as the starter at the strong safety position…He continues to add muscle to his frame every off-season…Played a vital role on the Aggies special teams throughout his career and proved to be an outstanding tackler….Colbert has played in 29 games with 13 starts…He has 127 career tackles with 71 of them coming as solo stops…He has also broken up four passes, made three interceptions, forced three fumbles and recovered two fumbles during his career…Named the team's best defensive back last season.... State on Nov. 17…His day also included an interception he returned 54 yards…On Oct. 6 he recorded nine tackles against Morgan State…Two of those tackles came on special teams and three of his tackles held the Bears to zero yards on the play…He had one of if not the most impressive Aggies hit on the season when on Sept. 8 against Hampton he came through on a blitz and stuck his face mask square into the chest of Pirates running back Van Morgan for a 4-yard loss and impressive reaction for the Aggie crowd at Aggie Stadium…He had another stop behind the line of scrimmage in the game and broke up two passes…Teamed with Tyre Glasper for his first career sack on Sept. 22 when he sacked N.C. Central quarterback Stadford Brown for a 5-yard loss…He also made two other tackles behind the line of scrimmage in a game that saw the Aggies lose in the waning seconds…SOPHOMORE (2006): Finished the season as the Aggies fifth leading tackler…Proved to be one of the Aggies most reliable tacklers…Recorded 54 tackles on the season with 29 solo stops…Ranked 34th in the MEAC in tackles per game with 4.9 per game…Played in 11 games with two starts…Had a career game on Oct. 7 against Morgan State when he made 10 tackles, five solo and made two solo tackles at the line of scrimmage…During the game, also tackled Morgan State running back Nelson Craig for a 1-yard loss…It was only one of five double-figure tackling performances by an Aggie during the season…Made one of only four interceptions the Aggies had during the season when he returned a pick 45 yards to put the Aggies at the Howard 30-yard line on Oct. 21. FRESHMAN (2005): Played a significant role as a special teams player…Recorded 10 tackles, six of them were unassisted…Made a huge play for the Aggies during the second week of the season…On an Aggies punt, Colbert ran down and made a hit on Norfolk State punt returner Dario Walker, forcing him to fumble the football…Colbert recovered the ball in the Aggies end zone for a crucial touchdown as the Aggies won 16-14 over the Spartans…Made two unassisted tackles against Delaware State during the Aggies Homecoming on Oct. 15…Also had two unassisted tackles against Howard the next week, including a blocked field goal...E.E.
