Dawson File: Dawson comes into the 2008 season as
the Aggies most experienced receiver and the Aggies leading returning
receiver…He will be expected to provide leadership among the Aggies
young receiving corps…He comes into the season penciled in as the Aggies
top “X” receiver…He has more career catches, receiving yards and
touchdowns than any other Aggie on the current roster…Has made 23 career
catches for 375 yards and two touchdowns…He is one the fastest players
on the team and while he doesn’t have the size of some of the other
Aggie receivers, he has excellent hands and knows how to run precise
routes Showcased an ability to be a deep threat in the Aggies offense in
2005, averaging 23.0 yards per catch…Although he did not have in punt or
kick-off return duties in 2007, he started his career as a returner…Has
played in 18 games as a returner for the Aggies with 22 career kickoff
returns and 15 career punt returns… Has a career kickoff return average
of 19.2 yards per return and a career punt return average of 10.1 per
return…Named the team’s Rookie of Year at the N.C. A&T Athletic Awards
Banquet in 2005… JUNIOR (2007): He did not take on his customary
kick and punt return duties, but he did play a reserve role as a
receiver in which he was third on the team in receiving with 12
receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown…Made two catches against
Norfolk State on a televised Thursday night ESPNU game at Aggie Stadium
on Sept. 27 Both catches came on the same drive in the second quarter…He
caught 16-yard out from Herb Miller on a 3rd-and-8…Seven plays later,
Miller found Dawson on a post pattern for a 25-yard touchdown pass…He
made a huge catch against N.C. Central on Sept. 27 as he caught a
24-yard pass from Miller with 45 seconds remaining in the game to give
the Aggies the ball at the Eagles 16-yard line…The drive ended in an
interception as the Aggies fell short 27-22… SOPHOMORE (2006):
Played in eight games for the Aggies and mainly played the role of punt
and kickoff returner…Did make three receptions from the wide receiver
position for 42 yards…Had a 34-yard kickoff return against Winston-Salem
State on Sept. 2, which set up an Aggies touchdown…The next week,
recorded a 32-yard kickoff return, giving the Aggies excellent field
position against Hampton…Had a 17-yard punt return against Morgan State,
which put the Aggies in |
