White File: When he came to North Carolina A&T, the Aggies coaching
staff knew he had the athleticism to make a difference at any number of
positions…After initially being a wide receiver, the decision was made
to move him to safety midway through last season…White responded with a
strong finish to last season and a superb spring practice showing…He
will come into fall camp as the No. 1 free safety on the depth
chart…Adjusted well to playing in the secondary and position coach
Travis Oliver will look to him as someone who can make big plays…REDSHIRT
FRESHMAN (2007): Played in seven games without a start…Made five
tackles and recovered a fumble during the season…Earned more playing
time toward the end of the season…Had the best showing of the season on
Nov. 3 when he recorded two tackles against Florida A&M…He recovered a
fumble at Howard on Oct. 20… TC ROBERSON HIGH: Played three
varsity seasons under Mike Houston...Had more than 2,000 all-purpose
yards during his career...Named the team MVP as a junior and a
senior...Also rushed for more than 1,300 yards over his junior and
senior seasons...Those yards resulted in 28 touchdowns...Also had 400
receiving yards...On the defensive end, recorded 155 tackles and
intercepted 11 passes over two seasons...PERSONAL: Full name is
Vernon Julian White II...He is the son of Mechelle Henly and Vernon
White, Sr...He has two siblings, April and Ebony...He was born on June
12, 1987...He is a sports science and fitness management major...Wants
to work as a physical therapist after graduation.
