Myron Jackson enters his first season as an assistant coach for the North Carolina A&T program. Jackson will be responsible for coaching the Aggies defensive lineman. Jackson has coached on the collegiate level since 2001 and has coached defensive linemen for the past five years. Over the six seasons he has coached in one of the toughest conferences in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision – the Southern Conference. Jackson spent the last six years as an assistant coach at Western Carolina. In each of his six years as an assistant, at least one of his position players have earned first team All-Southern Conference honors. A total of six defensive linemen earned first team SoCon honors under Jackson’s leadership. Two of those players signed NFL contracts and one of those players played in the prestigious Blue-Gray All-Star Classic. In 2005, his defensive linemen helped the Catamounts lead the nation in pass defense. Jackson began his stint with the Catamounts coaching tight ends and wide receivers in 2002. He also worked as the film exchange coordinator during his first season at WCU. Over the next five years he coached WCU’s defensive linemen. He also facilitated and conducted the necessary procedures for allowing non-scholarship players to participate. Before he arrived at WCU, Jackson was a graduate assistant at the University of Connecticut. He assisted with the coaching of tight ends and special teams for the Huskies. He also edited game film and put together scouting reports of the opponent’s defense. Jackson also spent one season with the Arena Football League 2’s Tallahassee Thunder where he coached the offensive and defensive lines. Jackson played college football at Florida State University where he was a four-year letterman as a tight end. Two of his FSU teams played in games that had a bearing on who won the national championship. In 1998, he earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. Jackson is a 1998 graduate of FSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education with a specialty in sports management. He earned his Master’s degree in sport administration in 2001 from FSU. Jackson is married to the former Sherley Laurin. The couple has two daughters, Laurin Michele and Audrey Ann.
