Aggie Nation, Dawg Pound to get major airtime in 2007 GREENSBORO, November 3, 2006 – The Dawg Pound, the Solid Gold Aggie Maniacs, the Cal Irvin-Don Corbett decal, the multiple championship banners hanging from the rafters and everything else that makes up Corbett Sports Center on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University will be on full display this basketball season. Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas announced today the 2006-2007 television schedule for men’s and women’s basketball. The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball team will have three nationally-televised games on ESPNU this season. All three games will be televised from Corbett Sports Center. “We are excited about having the ESPNU cameras come to our gym three times this year,’’ said head men’s basketball coach Jerry Eaves. “The fact television wants to come our way three times says a lot about our fans, alumni and student body. When you show the kind of support they show, it attracts attention.” The first of the Aggies’ three TV appearances occurs on Monday, January 8 when the Aggies take on Howard at 9 p.m. Three weeks later on Monday, January 29 at 7p.m., the Aggies welcome the Hampton Pirates into Corbett Sports Center, where the Aggies have won 67.5 percent of their games since the building opened in 1978. Florida A&M will be the final regular-season television game on Monday, February 12 at 7 p.m. The Aggies made their ESPN2 debut last season Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, and knocked off the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 69-67 inside an electric Corbett Sports Center. As part of its seven-year partnership with ESPNU, the MEAC will have nine men’s and three women’s regular-season games on ESPNU. |
