AGGIES ADD TWO PLAYERS, RELEASE SCHEDULE

2006-2007 Men's Basketball Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C., August 18, 2006 –
The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball head coach Jerry Eaves announced the addition of two players who will add even more depth and experience to a team that appears to already have both as the 2006-2007 season approaches.

Junior College transfers Glenn Nelson and Pat Gregg will be added to the Aggies roster this season. Nelson (Baltimore, Md.) is a 6-2 point guard out of Cecil Community College (Md.). In Nelson’s two seasons at Cecil, the Seahawks went 61-6 and won the 2006 NJCAA Division II national championship.

Nelson averaged 13.0 points and 6.0 assists per game last season, while shooting 88 percent from the free throw line and 44 percent from 3-point range.

Gregg is a 6-5 forward, who like Eaves’ other forwards, as the ability to play in the post as well as the perimeter. Gregg attended Lincoln Trail Community College (Ill.) for two seasons, where he averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds.

“I like the make up of our team,’’ said Eaves. “We’re deep at almost every position, which is going to make for a lot of competition when we start practice. This is the kind of depth I’ve worked to build since I came here. The more depth you have, the more young men are gong to compete to earn playing time.”

Eaves will get to test in depth for the first time in the John Thompson Foundation Classic starting on Nov. 10. The Aggie men, who also released their schedule, will play in the Classic in Missouri, from Nov. 10-12. The Aggies will play their first home game on Nov. 20 against Mars Hill College at 7:30 p.m.

The Aggies play their first conference game in Orangeburg, S.C., on Dec. 2 against S.C. State. Their first conference home game is against Maryland-Eastern Shore on Jan. 6 at 4 p.m. The non –conference schedule includes Arizona State, New Mexico, Baylor and Southern Methodist.
