Eaves adds more height to current recruiting class
GREENSBORO, May 8, 2007 – North Carolina A&T men’s basketball coach Jerry Eaves signed the third member of his 2007 recruiting class when he inked 6-foot-9, 220-pound center/power forward Thomas Coleman out of Louisville, Ky., to a national letter of intent. “Thomas will truly make us a very good team on the boards and offensively with his body and ability,’’ said Eaves. “He gives us a presence on the boards and makes us a better defensive team.” Coleman attended Jeffersontown High School. He helped Jeffersontown to the state championship as a junior and averaged 13.2 points and 10.6 rebounds a senior. He was a second-team All-State selection by The Courier-Journal. “It just came down to that I didn’t want to wait on anybody else,’’ Coleman told the Journal. “Coach Eaves had been recruiting me since the middle of the season and when I went to visit the campus I liked it. It was a nice campus and a city, and it was a place where I could see myself being.” Coleman’s other suitors included Coppin State, Georgetown and Morehead State. Coleman is a member of the Kentucky All-Star team. Coleman joins Ed Jones (Leesburg, Va.) and Kam Shepherd (Orlando, Fla.) as members of Eaves’ 2007 recruiting class. Each player is 6-foot-7 or taller. They make for a nice young nucleus to go along with a team that will likely feature seven seniors. |
