Box Score Sophomore forward Robert Johnson led the Blue team with 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting, and senior forward Jason Wills added 14 points and five rebounds to lead the Blue to a 70-65 win over the Gold. Junior forwards Nick Wilson and Ed Jones had 22 and 20 points, respectively, to lead the Gold. Senior guard Glenn Nelson played the first half for the Gold team and the second half for the Blue team scoring a total of eight points for the contest. Blue took control of the game midway through the first half with a 10-0 run highlighted by an Angelo Hernandez (Jr., 6-3, Philadelphia, Pa.) steal and assist to Johnson that turned a five-point deficit to a five-point lead. The Blue led 35-29 at the half. In the second half, Gold closed to within four points, but the more experienced Blue caused two turnovers on the Gold’s next three possessions. Solid free throw shooting by freshman center Thomas Coleman helped seal the win for the Blue team. “This was one of our better scrimmages of the four that we’ve had” said head coach Jerry Eaves. “We’ve got a long way to go to get ready for next Friday.” The Aggies will take on Saint Louis University 9:30 p.m., Friday, November 9 in Pittsburgh, Pa., at the Pittsburgh University Tournament. |
