LINCOLN, Neb., December 19, 2005 -- Hot shooting from behind the arc and solid ball-handling led Nebraska to a 107-57 win over the N.C. A&T men's basketball team at Bob Devaney Sports Center on Monday. Junior guard Derek Crumpton led the Aggies with a career-high 19 points off the bench. Crumpton was 7-for-10 from the field and hit a career-best five 3-pointers. Jason Wills added a career-high 16 points, which included 17 free throw attempts. The Huskers were helped by 58.6 percent shooting from the field in the first half. They were also aided by nine first-half 3-pointers in which they shot 56.3 percent as they led by 26. While the Huskers stayed hot from the field in the second half, the Aggis cooled off by shooting 27.6 percent. Nebraska opened the second half with a 17-3 run to build a 40-point cushion with just under 15 minutes remaining. Senior forward Wes Wilkinson, Marcus Walker and Joe McCray hit 3-pointers in a two-minute flurry, followed by a layup from junior forward B.J. Walker. Marcus Walker's fourth three clinched things for the Huskers. "They just shot the lights out and that is the bottom line,'' said N.C. A&T head men's basketball coach Jerry Eaves. "There was really nothing we could do. It was the physical nature of the game. They are a strong and mature team and much bigger and physical." The Aggies travel to Los Angeles, Calif., to face Southern California on Friday before heading to Hawaii to play the Rainbows on Dec. 27.
