Eaves announces key signing GREENSBORO, N.C., May 17, 2005 – N.C. A&T head men’s basketball coach Jerry Eaves announced the signing of Durham Hillside point guard Chris Faison, today. Eaves considers Faison a key part of his 2005 class, and was able to sign the 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard out of Durham this week even after ACC schools and others showed interest. Faison joins a class that includes 5-foot-11 guard Austin Ewing out of Atlanta, and 6-foot-9 center James Porter out of Raleigh. “Chris going to be a real asset to our program,’’ Eaves said. “He’s comfortable and proficient at playing either (the point guard) or (shooting guard) position. We’re glad he decided to sign with A&T.” Faison was the Five-County 3A Conference Player of the Year this past season. He averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. Faison led Hillside to the North Carolina state sectional 3A finals the last two seasons. He scored 29 points against Dudley in the sectional finals as a junior. “Chris is an all-around player and has good height for a point guard, which allows him to see the floor very well’’ said Hillside boys basketball coach Wayne Howell. “He is an unselfish player who can score 20 or dish out nine assists, whatever is proper for that particular game.”
