Smith in AggieLand: Looks to finally have his chance to be the Aggies starting point guard this season…Has waited patiently behind Austin Ewing the past two seasons, but looks poised to run an offense that he is very familiar with…Although he is a junior, Alston has never played more than 16 minutes in a game, so there is still a hint of inexperience there…He has excellent court vision and has the talent to be a top assists man in the MEAC this season…Is also a good outside shooter with a desire to take big shots….Has played in 36 games with one start for the Aggies…Over his career, he has scored 87 points, dished out 29 assists and grabbed 22 rebounds…He is also a career .422 shooter from the floor, a .583 from the line and a .136 from 3-point range.
2007-2008: Played in 23 games with one start…Averaged 2.7 points, 1.0 assists and 0.6 rebounds…Shot .421 from the floor, .579 from the line and .214 from 3-point range…Made his first career start against Southern Virginia on Dec. 5…He played 14 minutes, scored a career-high nine points and was 3-for-4 from the free throw line…Scored nine points on 4-for-5 shooting in a loss to Norfolk State on Dec. 1…Played a career-high 16 minutes at Winston-Salem State on Feb. 23.
2006-2007: Played in 13 games without a start…Averaged 1.9 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game…Made his first career appearance on Nov. 10 against Missouri in which he played nine minutes and scored four points and dished out two assists…Shot .423 from the field and .600 from the free line…Had a season-best six points and four rebounds in seven minutes of action against St. Andrews on Dec. 5…Scored four points in nine minutes of action in a win at Maryland-Eastern Shore on Feb. 3.
Smith High School Career: Played high school basketball under two different coaches…Averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 assists at local Smith High School…Was placed on the Greensboro News & Record’s first-team as a senior…Named Team MVP two consecutive years…Was also named all-conference and all-county two straight years…Also ran cross country at Smith.
