McClurkin in AggieLand: Returns to N.C. A&T after a season where he played sparingly…Came to N.C. A&T as a walk-on from Division II Tiffin University…Unlike last season, he should play a crucial role for the Aggies this season…He is a versatile player who can do a variety of things like put the ball on the floor, is an excellent passer, can face the basket and hit the mid-range jump shot and defends with a long wingspan…He will battle for the starting center position this season…His presence at center could help the Aggies move forward Thomas Coleman to the power forward position.

2007-2008: Played in two games with no starts…Averaged 1.5 points in those two games…All three of his points during the season came against Houston Baptist on Nov. 11.

Tiffin University: Played two years of varsity basketball at Tiffin University…Averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game as a freshman…The next season, averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.

Independence High School Career: Played two years at Independence High School in Columbus, Ohio…Averaged 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior under head coach Tom Cripe…Served in student government and was an honor roll student…Held a seat on the school’s Share Decision Making cabinet…Also played a variety of sports in high school, including baseball, football, volleyball and swimming.

Personal: Full name is Julian McClurkin…He is the son of Joseph and Barbara Johnson…He was born on August 1, 1986…He is a business management major who started a weekly Bible study after coming to N.C. A&T…Chose N.C. A&T because he wanted to be a part of a historically black college and university…His talents include playing the guitar and drums, writing poetry, swimming and public speaking…Listens to gospel artists Bishop Joseph White, Fred Hammond and John P. Kee.
