Could be a breakout year for the sophomore out of Kentucky…He showed his ability to knock down 3-pointers by winning the 3-point contest at Aggie Madness in October…He can play both guard positions and could be a dangerous offensive weapon with his ability to take defenders off the dribble.
2008-2009: Played in 22 games with one start ...Made his first career start at UNLV on Nov. 22 in place of an injured Robert Johnson...Averaged 1.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game...Scored his first career point on Nov. 14 on a free throw against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy...Made his first career field goal at the University of California when he hit a 3-pointer at the 3:33 mark of the second half on Nov. 24...Had his first career double-figure scoring game by scoring 10 points on 5-for-9 shooting in an 84-47 win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Jan. 5.
Personal: Full name is Nicolas James Simpson…He is the son of Amy Simpson…His first basketball memory is playing at the Boys & Girls Club of America…If he could be on a television show it would be Lost because he would get found…Says he never leaves home without Clorox wipes…If he could own a business it would be a basketball franchise and he would hire Phil Jackson…He is inspired by his mother and God…Simpson also enjoys reading, writing and composing music.
