Will likely play the power forward position for the Aggies…With his build, he could be the bruiser in the post head coach Jerry Eaves has been looking for…Although he has the body to battle in the post, he has a great touch around the basket…Has the ability to hit the 10-15 foot jump shot…Adds to the Aggies low post defense with his ability to block shots.

High School Career: Averaged 19.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game as a senior at Garner High School...Named Greater Neuse River 4A Conference Player of the Year ...He is a two-time All-Greater Neuse River Class 4A all-conference performer...Also earned second-team All-Triangle honors...Named to the prestigious North Carolina East/West All-Star Game...Led the Trojans to an 18-10 overall record, a 13-1 conference record and a second round game in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs.

Personal: Full name is DaMetrius Jerome Upchurch…He is the son of Lynda Clifton and Melvin Upchurch…Has one sibling, DaMarcus…His nickname is Meat…His first basketball memory is his first-ever dunk at age 5 on his Fisher Price basketball goal…Upchurch’s favorite basketball moment was being named conference player of the year…Wears No. 33 because his best friend/brother wore the number…If he could be on a television show it would be the game show Deal or No Deal because he would love a chance at winning a lot of money…If he could own his own business it would be either a bank or a sports agency.
