White returns to the Aggies lineup

Box Score 2 The Aggies also beat the Bulldogs in five innings in the first game with a 9-1 win. White on the day was a combined 3-for-6 with four runs scored and four RBI. Prior to Sunday’s game, White had missed 2 ½ weeks and 10 games with a hamstring injury. In her first at-bat back, she singled to center field. In the second game, the Aggies star lead-off hitter tripled to right field. Freshman Brittney Reddick brought her home on a bunt single. Freshman Jessie Larson followed with a double to center field to give the Aggies a 2-0 lead before the first out was recorded. N.C. A&T would increase its lead in the third when Tangala Conover scored on a wild pitch from S.C. State starter TaTreka Polite. Chaola Simmons followed with an RBI single that scored Veney to give the Aggies a 5-1 lead as it appeared they were easily headed toward another five inning game. But the Bulldogs fought back. Aggies starter Adia Dial issued a one-out walk to Krystal Anthony. Darneshia Ross was then hit by a Dial pitch. The Bulldogs loaded the bases when Felecia Hemphill. Sade Wilson closed the gap to three runs when her grounder went to Aggies second baseman Lillian Bullock. Bullock decided to attempt to force out Anthony at home, but her throw was too late. Keyona Duncan singled to right center to score Ross and put the Bulldogs down 5-3. The Aggies would put the game away over the next two innings. The Aggies scored two runs in the fourth as Sylvia Felder scored on a wild pitch and White scored on a Conover RBI single. It set up the fifth as Chaola Simmons led off the inning with an infield single. She moved to second on a wild pitch and received some company on the base pads when Jessica Cooper walked. Felder also walked to load the bases for White’s fifth home run of the season. Dial earned the win, her fifth of the season as the Aggies improved to 18-19 overall. Sasha Philpot was the winner of Game 1. In winning her seventh straight decision, she improved to 11-5. The Aggies jumped on the Bulldogs early in the first game by scoring five runs in the first. The Aggies scoring was capped off the fourth when Larson went deep for her fourth home run of the season. Dial was 2-for-3 in the first game with two RBI, while Larson, Veney and Felder also recorded two hits. In the second game, Conover, Bullock and Simmons had two hits apiece. The Aggies are back in action on Wednesday when they face Winthrop at 3 p.m., at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. |
