North Carolina A&T’s Lillian Bullock hit her MEAC-leading 13th home run of the season, but it was not enough as the visitors from Winthrop swept the Aggies in doubleheader action from the Lady Aggies Softball Complex, 12-0 and 12-2.

Sasha Philpot pitched well in the first game, but was hurt by seven Aggie errors. Only three of the 11 runs she surrendered were earned. The loss ended Philpot’s seven-game win streak as she dropped to 11-6 on the season. In the second game, Adia Dial also had a decent start on the mound before four Aggie errors began to give the Eagles an advantage.

In the first game, a two-run sixth and a five-run seventh helped the Eagles put the game out of reach. In the second game, the Eagles got off to a 2-0 lead, but the Aggies fought back.

Channing Statham led off the Aggies first with a single to right field, and advanced to second on an Eagles error. Statham, however, was called out at second because it was ruled she didn’t touch first base. It was ig play because Jessie Larson followed with what would have been an RBI double. Instead, Larson reached second with one out.

Bullock continued with what has already been a record-breaking season as she crushed a pitch to the opposite field. The Eagles scored two more runs in the second, and blew the game open late with a six-run sixth.

The Aggies are back in action Friday, April 6 when they travel to Norfolk, Va., to play Norfolk State in a 3 p.m. conference doubleheader. The Aggies then travel to Lexington, S.C., to begin play in the MEAC Roundup from April 13-15. The roundup will go along way in determining the seeds for the 2007 MEAC Softball Tournament in Baltimore, Md., May 11-13.
