It happened over two days, but North Carolina A&T finally knocked off tournament-host Morgan State to advance in the 2007 MEAC Softball Tournament. The Aggies got two RBI apiece from Yahamma White, Tangala Conover and Sylvia Felder to eliminate the Bears 11-5 on Sunday morning at Randazzo Park. White also hit her ninth home run of the season for the Aggies.

The game was postponed on Saturday in the bottom of the fifth because of lightning and rain with the Aggies leading 6-1.

The Aggies improved to 28-29 on the season and will advance to play Delaware State at 10:30 a.m., on Sunday. Morgan State, who made an impressive run in the tournament as the eighth seed, finished its season at 14-25.

N.C. A&T has now knocked off the defending MEAC Champion, the No. 1 seed and the tournament host.

Following the rain delay, the Aggies added two more runs in the fifth. With one out, freshman outfielder Britney Reddick singled to center field and stole second to move into scoring position. Felder would pop out to short, followed by a Jessica Cooper walk. Chaola Simmons would come through with a single to left, scoring Reddick. Cooper would score on a Carolynn Howard wild pitch to give the Aggies an 8-1 lead.

But the Bears were playing in front of their home crowd and used their home field advantage to make a rally in the sixth. Aggies starter Adia Dial opened the inning by hitting Ashley Vazquez with a pitch. Howard followed with an RBI double to left, cutting the Aggies lead to 8-2.

Dial would retire the next two Morgan State batters, but Nastosha Johnson kept the rally going by singling to center field, scoring Howard from third. Dial ran into more trouble as she walked Carissa Washington, putting runners on first and second. Dominisha Britton caused more problems as she singled to right field, scoring Johnson from second. A miscue in right also allowed Washington to score, cutting the Aggies lead to 8-5.

But the Aggies put the game away in the sixth. Jessie Larson led the bottom of the sixth with a walk. Conover followed with a single to left field. An error in left field allowed Larson to score and put Conover in scoring position.

Tabitha Veney was hit by a pitch to put two Aggies on base. Howard struck out Reddick, but Reddick advanced to first because the ball was dropped on a swinging third strike. The Bears would throw out Conover at the plate, but Felder stepped up and hit a two-run RBI double to give the Aggies a commanding lead.

Adia Dial pitched six innings to earn the win as she improved 11-12. Howard ended her season at 10-14. Britton was 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Bears.
