Larson has a combined six RBI on the day GREENSBORO, March 7, 2007 – The North Carolina A&T softball kept its winning ways going with a doubleheader sweep of Savannah State on Wednesday, 22-3, 18-2. The sweep improved the Aggies to 9-7 on the season and was their fifth straight win. Yahamma White had four hits in the first game and pitched five innings, striking out eight in the second game to earn her first win of the season. Freshman Jessie Larson was 3-for-5 in the first game with five RBI and scored three times. In the second game, Britney Reddick went 3-for-4 with an RBI. In Game 2, it appeared the Tigers were ready to put up a better showing. After a scoreless first inning, Chere’ Chillis led off the second with a single up the middle off of White. Jazmin Reynolds continued the rally when she reached base on an error. Both runners moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Jessalyn Ross took advantage of more Aggie miscues as she reached on an error, scoring Chillis from third. Keisha Barkley earned the Tigers only RBI of the game with a single to center field that scored Reynolds and gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead. The Aggies answered with authority in the second, scoring 13 runs on seven hits and five Savannah State errors. The inning was highlighted by sophomore Deanna Keys’ first career home run, a two-run shot that put the Aggies up 11-2. Aggies senior Adia Dial pitched five complete innings in the first game to improve to 2-3. |
