White goes 4-for-9 with three runs scored in doubleheader

Box Score 2 In the second game, Yahamma White went 3-for-5 with a RBI and three runs scored. Tangala Conover had her first hitless game of her career after earning hit in her first five collegiate games. Adia Dial added two RBI. An eight-run second inning did the Aggies in the first game and they went into the fourth inning trailing 5-1 in the second game. But Lillian Bullock opened the inning with a single. Chaola Simmons reached on the first of three errors in the inning by the Seahawks. Bullock and Simmons advanced into scoring position on a passed ball. After Tabitha Veney walked, Bianca Alsobrook singled to right to score Bullock. Sylvia Felder made the first out in the inning, followed by a fielder’s choice from Adia Dial, which scored Alsobrook and Simmons to pull the Aggies to within one run, 5-4. After another error, Simmons tied the game at 5. White scored Dial with a double to right to give the Aggies their first lead of either ball game. White advanced to third on a Conover groundout and scored on a wild pitch to cap off a six-run fourth inning in which the Aggies took a 7-5 lead. But the Seahawks answered with four runs in their half of the fourth to take a 9-7 lead. A Luckett home run led off the Seahawks fifth to increase their lead to 10-7. Two batters later, Wilkins tripled to right, setting up a Walters RBI single. The Aggies tried to rally in the sixth. White scored on an error in the sixth and Conover scored on a Jessie Larson groundout to put the Aggies down two runs. Lockett, who pitched 3.2 innings to earn the win, left White on first base in the seventh to end the game. Adia Dial (1-1) was the losing pitcher as only two of the six runs she surrendered were earned. In the first game, Bullock hit a three-run homer, her third home run on the season to lead the Aggies. Sasha Philpot (1-2) was the losing pitcher. The Aggies are back in action Feb. 23-25 in the Elon Tournament. The Aggies fell to 2-4 on the season. |
