Yahamma White recorded four RBIs and Bianca Alsobrook, Lillian Bullock and Tangie Conover recorded three hits apiece to help the Aggies salvage a doubleheader split with N.C. Central, 12-1 in five innings. The Aggies lost the first game 4-1 to the Eagles in the first game.

The two teams finally met after two previous cancellations because of inclement weather. The Aggies win in the second game ended a seven-game losing streak for the Aggies as they improved to 12-9-1 on the season.

The Aggies jumped all over the Eagles in Game 2. They scored two runs apiece over the first two innings to take a 4-1 lead. They blew the game away in the third with a big five-run that started with Channing Statham being walked by reliever Michelle Ishida.

Brittney Reddick and Britney Hodges followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. White’s fly ball to left field scored Statham from third on a sacrifice fly. Sylvia Felder’s groundout to short scored Reddick for a 6-1 Aggies lead. Alsobrook kept the inning going with a single to score Hodges. A RBI triple by Conover and a RBI double from Bullock capped off the five-run inning to give the Aggies a 9-1 lead.

Aggies starter Jennifer Luper took care of things for the Aggies on the mound. After losing her last two starts, the freshman returned to her winning ways by pitching five innings, giving up just four hits and striking out six to improve to 7-2 on the season. The game ended five innings because the Aggies lead exceeded eight runs after five innings of play.

The first game was a lot closer. The Eagles put distance between themselves and the Aggies in the second. A two-run homer by Kri Schooler gave the Eagles a 3-1 lead. Sophia Blue followed with a single and scored thanks to two Aggie errors.

After hitting her two-run homer, Schooler turned her attention to the Aggie batters. Schooler, the Eagles starter, held the Aggies to just four hits. The Aggies only run came on a RBI groundout by Alsobrook.

The Aggies next big scoring threat came in the sixth when Conover reached on an error and Bullock singled to put runners on first and second. Ryanne Hill grounded into a double play, however, to end the threat. Schooler got the win, while Sasha Philpot fell to 4-5 on the season despite striking out eight batters.

The Aggies are back in action Wednesday when they face UNC Greensboro in a doubleheader at UNCG at 3 p.m.
