Hill leads Aggies with three RBIs
Box Score The second game of the doubleheader was suspended in the fourth inning with the score tied at 4. The game will be continued on April 29 when the Eagles travel to Greensboro for their previously scheduled doubleheader against the Aggies at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. Hill received help in the first game from Tangie Conover who went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Freshman Ashley Carter added three hits and three runs scored, while Bianca Alsobrook had two RBIs. Hill, who is eighth in the nation in RBIs, got started early by hitting a two-run homer in the top of the first to give the Aggies a 2-0. The Aggies two more runs in the first on a N.C. Central error and a wild pitch. The Eagles answered the Aggies four-run first with two runs of their own in their half of the first. The Aggies would begin to pull away in the third. A Jessie Larson single scored Channing Statham from second to give the Aggies a 5-2 lead. Alsobrook’s groundout to second led to another Aggies run as Lillian Bullock scored from third base. In the sixth, Hill’s RBI single increased the Aggies lead to 7-2 as Yahamma White scored. Hill moved into scoring position by stealing second to put runners on third and second. Statham loaded the bases by walking and Carter scored on an Eagles wild pitch. Hill also scored on a wild pitch to give the Aggies a 9-2 lead. An Alsobrook RBI single closed out the Aggies sixth-inning scoring as Statham scored to put the Aggies ahead 10-2. Aggies starting pitcher Jennifer Luper improved to 9-6 on the season by striking out six and giving up just five hits. She also did not surrender an earned run. The Aggies will open a three-game series against Winston-Salem State starting on Saturday as the two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., in Winston-Salem. |
