Luper went 3-1 for the week GREENSBORO, May 5, 2009 – Sophomore Jennifer Luper his now performing double duty and doing it well. Luper pitched 26 innings and recorded nine at-bats last week effectively enough to earn MEAC Softball Player of the Week honors. Luper is the third Aggie to earn player of the week honors this season. Ryanne Hill has earned it twice and Tangie Conover has earned it once this season. On the mound, Luper posted a 1.88 ERA in four starts. She struck out 17 batters over those four games, and did not allow more than one earned run in her last three starts of the week. Despite facing 112 batters, she surrendered just five extra base hits. With the bat in her hand, she was 4-for-9 for the week, including a solo home run against arch-rival N.C. Central on Wednesday. Luper also scored four times, drove in three runs and had a 2-for-2 outing against the Eagles as the Aggies swept three games from them on Wednesday. Luper helped the Aggies go 4-2 for the week. It was Luper’s first career player of the week honor. She has two pitcher of the week and one rookie of the week honor to her credit. |
