N.C. A&T CAREER:
Has been an excellent lead-off for the Aggies during her career at N.C. A&T…Has also been a fixture in the Aggies outfield whether it’s in center or right field…Named N.C. A&T’s Female Freshman of the Year…Also named team Rookie of the Year…Earned North Carolina Sports Information Directors first-team honors following her sophomore season after a career year…Has started every game she has played as an Aggie…Has played in and started 101 of the 102 games the Aggies have played during her career…Has stolen 31 bases in 36 attempts in her career, which is more career stolen bases than any other player on the Aggies current roster…Has scored 59 times in her career and has a career average of .292…Has struck out in just 18 percent of her plate appearances.
2006: Started the season by hitting .400 over her first nine games…Finished the season batting a career-high .322 with 10 RBI and 37 runs scored, all career highs…Led the team in runs scored (37), hits (59), total plate appearances (198), at-bats (183) and steal attempts (21)…Was tied for the team lead in triples (4) and total bases (69)…Was fourth in the MEAC in stolen bases…Six out of her 10 RBI came with two outs in the inning…Was the Aggies lead-off hitter in 48 out of the Aggies 60 games…Out of the 79 opportunities she had to advance runners, she advanced them 40 times or 50.6 percent of the time…Batted .405 when leading off an inning and .372 with runners in scoring position…Had the longest hitting streak of any N.C. A&T player with an eight-game hitting streak between April 15 and April 25…Hitting streak came to an end in the second game of a doubleheader against Appalachian State…Also had hitting streaks of seven and six during the season…Opened the season with a career game in which she recorded three hits and scored four times in a win over Savannah State on February 18…Went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in a thrilling 10-9 win over Norfolk State on March 18 in which Simmons scored the game-winning run…Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in a win over Bethune-Cookman on April 4, the Aggies first over the Wildcats since 1997…Went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI in a crucial conference win over S.C. State on April 29…Went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a MEAC Tournament win over Hampton on May 6 in Greensboro.
2005: Team Rookie of the Year after hitting .250 and leading the team with 13 stolen bases and 22 runs scored…Played and started 42 contests…Had 34 hits and nine RBI…Made only two errors in 88 chances (.977 fielding percentage)…Hit safely in 26 games…Opened the season with an eight game hitting streak….Had eight multi-hit games…Ranked 6th in the MEAC with 3.21 at-bats per game…Went 2-for-4 with a run scored against Morgan State (Feb. 19)…Batted 4-for-8 with five runs and four RBI in two games at Savannah State (Mar. 10)…Went 3-for-6 with 2 runs scored in doubleheader against Alabama State (Mar. 20)…Went 4-for-8 with two runs and two stolen bases in doubleheader against Norfolk State (Mar. 22)…Went 1-for-3 with three putouts and an assists at Florida A&M (Mar. 25)…Went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases against Charleston Southern (Apr. 9)…Season highs of five putouts and four assists in game one at Appalachian State (Apr. 14)…Went 2-for-4 at Elon (Apr. 19)…Went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen bases against S.C. State (Apr. 23).
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER:
Earned four varsity letters for head coach Heather Glass at Hoke County…Was selected as the team most valuable player following her senior season…. Played four years of varsity volleyball…Was selected as the school Female Athlete of the Year to complete her senior year...Was a two-time MVP at Hoke County…Named Player of the Year as a sophomore…Was the team’s Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman…As a volleyball player, earned the team’s hustle award three consecutive years…Maintained a 3.5 grade-point average throughout her scholastic career and graduated with honors with a 3.8 GPA.
