SENIORS SAY CORBETT FAREWELLS

Johnson, el-Shair and Lewis are honored

 GREENSBORO, January 26, 2007Three North Carolina A&T swimmers competed in their final swim meet at Corbett Sports Center on Friday in a loss to Campbell. Kira Johnson, Asha el-Shair and Kirstin Lewis were honored on Friday during the second intermission of the meet.

 The underclassmen were chosen to honor the seniors, a tradition started by head coach Shawn Hendrix. Gia Wright honored el-Shair with words of encouragement and a look into their friendship. Shannell Thomas honored Kirstin Lewis, while Jewel Wright said her goodbyes to Kira Johnson.

 In the pool, Wright helped the Aggies put together one of their best performances of the season. Wright finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:11.33. Wright also finished tied for second in the 200 yard IM. Vinetae Wynn swam her way to a first-place tie in the 50-yard freestyle.

 Hendrix also honored her Asha Clinkscales. Clinkscales has spent the last six years of her life helping the N.C. A&T swimming program. Clinkscales was a four-year member of the Aggies swim team and over the last two seasons she has assisted Hendrix.
