GREENSBORO, N.C., November 17, 2005 - N.C. A&T coach Shawn Hendrix knew her team had a tall order to fill in her program's first all-out sprint meet against North Florida. The Ospreys proved her right, defeating the Aggies 116-61 in Corbett Sports Center on Friday night.

North Florida won nine of the 11 events to record the victory.  Winning for the Ospreys were: Katrina Johnson (500 free), Scotti Williams (50 free), Jenn Shields (100 IM and 50 back), Marie Yeager (50 fly), Monique Salles-Cunha (100 free), and Loren Roycraft (200 free). The Ospreys won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.93.

Donielle Campbell won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32:31 to keep the Ospreys from a sweep of the individual awards. The Aggie team of Asha el-Shair, Signe Waldbauer, Ashley Farr, and Aasiya Townsell won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:53.17. Gia Wright had a strong performance with a second place finish in the 50 free with a time of 25.62.

With no events exceeding 500 yards, the sprint meet format is well suited to the Aggies' strength, however, against an experienced North Florida squad, the hosts endured their third dual meet loss of the season.

"This was a different experience for us, being that this was the first sprint meet we've ever had," said Hendrix. "North Florida is a pretty tough team and I felt that we swam very well against them. We have a lot of confidence going into our meet at Radford."

The Aggies will travel to Radford, Va. to participate in the six-team Highlander Thanksgiving Invitational hosted by Radford on Nov. 18-20.

N.C. A&T will close 2005 with a dual meet against Howard on Dec. 2 at 6 pm in Corbett Sports Center.
