Lady Aggie Swimming Knocks Off Campbell in Season Opener

Buies Creek, N.C., - October 2, 2004 - N.C. A&T won six individual events and two relays in cruising to a 124-67 rout of Campbell University on Saturday. This is the first non-conference road dual meet victory in the seven-year era of intercollegiate swimming.
Gia Wright led the Lady Aggies by scoring 18 points, as she took first place in the women's 100-yard freestyle (58.14s) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.12). Kirstin Lewis scored 12 points, taking home first place in the 200-yard (2:39.87) and third place in the 100-yard butterfly(1:14.72). Tiffany Mack finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (6:55.14), Asha Clinkscales won the 50-yard freestyle (26.75) and Asha el-Shair won the 100-yard butterfly(1:09.17).
N.C. A&T won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:00.27 and won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.69. In addition, the Lady Aggies took second place in five other events in dominating the Camels.
The team will host the fifth annual Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Invitational Relay Meet on Friday at the Corbett Sports Center Natatorium. Florida A&M and Howard will swim against the Lady Aggies, while the FAMU and HU men's team will swim against each other.
The three teams will battle each other in the Fifth HBCU Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida at 12:00 PM on October 16.
