AGGIES REGULAR-SEASON COMES TO AN END

Aggies in good shape to qualify for MEAC tourney

 

BUIES CREEK, March 27, 2007  – A regular-season that included the growth of some promising freshman and the improvement of upperclassmen came to an end on Tuesday as the North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team lost to Campbell 7-0 at Buies Creek. The Aggies finished the regular-season 3-16 overall and appear to have an excellent shot of qualify for the MEAC Tennis Tournament in Raleigh April 20-22.

Campbell’s Scarlett Alfonzo defeated the Aggies No. 1 singles player Christina Ruffin 6-0, 6-2, while the ever improving freshman Jaymee Jones for N.C. A&T lost to Campbell’s No. 2 Ana Surviladze 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles action, the Camels took the point with three victories, including Ana and Nina Surviladze’s victory over Porche Martin and Ruffin 8-1. The teams of Jones and Terika Palmer and Destiny Williams and Revorn Ferguson also lost in doubles competition.
