Four Aggies earn first career victories
GREENSBORO, February 4, 2007 – In rough weather conditions, the North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team earned its first win of the season with a 7-0 win over Winston-Salem State on Sunday. Jaymee Jones teamed with Christina Ruffin to take the No. 1 doubles match 8-0 and then earned her first-career singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Amanda Walker of the Rams. With a win by default in doubles, the Aggies took the doubles point and swept their way through singles as Revorn Ferguson, Destiny Williams and Morgan Robinson also earned their first career victories. “It was very tough conditions,’’ said head coach Andy Smith. “It was very cold, but the ladies played through it, played well and played focused. I’m encouraged as a coach that they are getting better. I see some good things happening, but we needed a win.” The win was also Smith’s first as the Aggies head coach. N.C. A&T is 1-3 on the season and return to action at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10 at East Carolina. They begin action in the MEAC Roundup on Feb. 22 in Altamonte, Fla.
