Box Score “I thought the ladies really played well,’’ said head coach Andy Smith. “We’re continuing to get better, which is good because we’re going to start playing in the conference soon.” Sophomore Jaymee Jones had an impressive showing at No. 3 doubles. Jones, who was just featured on www.middlestates.usta.com, celebrated with straight set victory over Stephanie Lee, 6-0, 6-0. It was the second time in Jones’ career she held an opponent with a point in a match. No. 1 singles player Winnie Quick also won with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ashley Rogers. Other Aggie singles victories included wins by Terika Palmer and Danielle McCaskill. The Aggies also took the doubles point by winning two out of three of the doubles matches. The young doubles duo of Jones and Quick won their second doubles match of the season by defeating Rogers and Tati Velasquez. Christina Ruffin and McCaskill clinched the doubles point by defeating Antoinette Spain and Amber Mason. The Aggies return to action at home Friday when they face Campbell at 3 p.m. They then travel to Elon on Saturday to face the Phoenix at 2 p.m. |
