Aggies start the season 0-2

The
North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team lost to local rival High Point “We had strong second sets,’’ said head coach Andy Smith. “We didn’t get off to good starts, but I thought the ladies fought hard in those second sets, which was encouraging to see.” The Panthers picked up the doubles point by sweeping the three games. Audrey LePottier and Lea Cantanzano teamed up to defeat Terika Palmer and Jaymee Jones, 8-1 in the No. 1. In the No. 2 the duo of Kelly Tolman and Caroline Mount dropped Danielle McCaskill and Winnie Quick, 8-2. In the final doubles match Becci Carr and Angie Harmon defeated Christina Ruffin and Destiny Williams, 8-1. In the No. 1 singles LePottier defeated Quick, 6-2, 7-5. Tolman dropped Ruffin, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 while Carr downed Jones, 6-0, 6-1. In the four through six singles matches, Mount defeated Palmer, 6-1, 6-1 while Jody Wicks dropped McCaskill. Cantanzano beat Williams in the final match, 6-2, 6-1. The Aggies are back in action on Sunday when they face Winston-Salem State at 2 p.m., from the Aggie Tennis Complex. |
