GREENSBORO, February 10, 2009 - After gaining confidence with its first victory over N.C. Central, the North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team came up short with a 6-1 loss against UNC Asheville.

Junior Jaymee Jones and Freshman Nina Henry were the only doubles winners, earning an 8-6 victory over UNCA’s Louise Bottomley and Devon Cavanaugh. Sophomore Winnie Quick and Freshman Danielle McCaskill also played a competitive doubles match, but they fell short with an 8-5 loss.

Quick was the only Aggie to earn a win. She defeated Cavanaugh 6-3, 6-1. “I felt like we should have played better matches,’’ said Quick. “UNCA is a good team but we could have played them a lot closer. “If we keep working hard, our progress will translate in the matches.”
