MARTIN GOES 4-0 AT MEAC SOUTH

GREENSBORO, March 5, 2006 – Damon Martin completed the MEAC South Roundup with a 4-0 mark to improve to 7-1 in MEAC competition. Martin, a first-team All-MEAC selection in 2005, as now won five straight singles matches and is 8-5 on the season.

 The Aggie men went 1-3 in the roundup with a win over Bethune-Cookman and losses to Norfolk State (4-3), S.C. State (5-2) and Florida A&M (5-2).

 Brother Jeremy Martin also played well. He won his final three matches to improve to 8-2 in the MEAC and 9-5 overall. The last of the Martin trio, Jared, has also been solid in MEAC play. He is  7-3 in MEAC competition. The Aggies fell to 6-8 overall and 6-4 in the MEAC. In the loss to Norfolk State, Porter Myrick lost a tough three-set match to Krakorn 5-7, 7-6, 4-6. The Spartans also got a huge win in doubles by defeating Jared and Jeremy 9-8. The Aggies did defeat the Wildcats 6-1.

 The Aggies will face Longwood at Longwood on Saturday.
