Smith has two top five finishes WINSTON-SALEM, March 25, 2007 --- North Carolina A&T women’s track standout Kimona Smith continues to strive in jumping events with a second place finish in the triple jump and third place finish in the long jump at the Wake Forest Open. Smith had a second place finish in the long jump two weeks ago at the 49ers Classic at Charlotte University. Smith had the second best long jump during the indoor season. Smith leaped 40-feet, 11-inches at the Wake Forest Open to earn second place in the triple jump behind Radford’s Shemlia Brandon. She went 19-feet, 3 ½ inches in the triple. The other women’s standout was Alexandria Spruiel. She finished third in the in the 400 with a time of 54.64 seconds. The men’s top finisher was Calesio Newman who finished second in the 100 with a sprinting time of 10.45. Robert Martin finished 12th in the same event, and had a seventh place finish in the 200. Cerone Burnett had two top 10 finishes as he leaped 49-feet, 3-inches in the triple jump to finish fourth. He also had a jump of 23-feet, 10-inches in the long jump to finish sixth. The Aggies will compete in the Charlotte Invitational on March 31 and will host the annual Aggie Relays on April 6-7. |
