RESULTS He showed that over the weekend when he finished first in the 60 meter dash at the Virginia Tech Indoor Invitational. Newman finished with a time of 6.70. It is the fourth fastest time in the country this season. Along with Newman feeling the best he has ever felt his career, the Aggies also received good news for the future when freshman Darryl Williams finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.90. Newman also had a seventh place finish in the 300 meters. Sophomore Jarrell Elliott finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.71. The 4x400 meter relay team took third with a time of 3:15.15 In the men’s field events, 2009 NCAA outdoor national qualifier, David McFadgen took first in the triple jump. McFadgen jumped 51-feet, 4-inches to earn the victory. Jared Baldwin finished eighth in the same event. On the women’s side, the throwing duo of Jerrine Foster and Katherine Forrester had another outstanding event. Foster finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 45-feet, 1-inch. Forrester had a ninth-place finish in the same event with a throw of 41-feet, 10-inches. The Aggies will return to Blacksburg on Jan. 22 to participate in the Hokie Invitational. |
